Project 01 | Editorial Work
This piece is a sample editorial design created for a typography course. The written content was sourced from a fashion blog, while the focus of the assignment was on my ability to follow popular fashion magazine layout styles in order to create an aesthetically pleasing layout for readability and easy of content transmission. My combination of Serif and San Serif fonts emulates the combination of elegance and rebelliousness inherent in Karl Lagerfeld himself.Project 01 | Editorial Work
Project 02 | Graphic/Free Lance Work
This series of design work includes an informational poster and illustrations completed over the course of my undergraduate studies, both for leisure and educational purposes.
In “Valentine’s Gift” I chose to expand my color vocabulary by utilizing this shade of pink as a commentary, both on the idealization of Valentine’s Day and the concept of love, and to create a sharp contrast between the color’s connotations and foreground image’s grim message.
In the song lyric illustration, I combined a quote from Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” with the drawing of a hand holding the phrase in order to symbolize the idea of a person analyzing their traits, life experiences, resources, and opportunities, and then considering their goals based on what they have been “given.” Additionally, the image plays with the contrast between the white negative space and the blue gradients in order to draw the viewer’s attention to the picture’s message.
The StepUp Panel Poster was an image I created for a panel discussion introducing prospective undergraduate students to the StepUp Collegiate Recovery Program at Augsburg University. Rather than turning to clipart, I utilized geometric artistic elements to create an abstract image of pizza. My intention was to not only to make the image unique and fun, but also to draw invariably hungry undergraduate students to the meeting.
The last piece was a free lance project I was hired to do for a wedding. The invitations were designed and executed in Photoshop and Indesign with the creative intent to represent the wedding's overall aesthetic.

Project 03 | Film Photography
Two series of black and white photographs on 35mm film, shot with a Pentax k1000 camera.
Series 1 - This series is titled Figurative Noir. Through these images I attempted to highlight female beauty from a natural and authentic perspective, in sharp contrast to the way in which it is represented in society. While the figures are nude, I used light and shadow to draw attention to typically non-sexualized body parts such as elbows, knees, and feet. The dichotomy between the nude body and the lack of fetishization challenges the viewer to more closely analyze the media’s portrayals of sexuality and beauty.
Series 2 - This series of street photography, taken in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, stems from a photography class assignment called “Following a Path.” This exercise required me to choose a random person and follow them around for a day, documenting the people and places with whom they interacted.
